I took my children swimming at the local city pool today. And after an hour, my 6 years old was on time out because he flip-jump on the shallow end after being told not to do it again.
Then my other boys got lectures because they cannot stop horsing around in the water. I understand safety in the water. I want my kids safe, but having other people scold them harshly for the ‘might-be’ offense, that I will not tolerate. The lifeguards has not cross the line. But when they do, they’d better look out.
My boys aren’t the only kids horsing around in the water. But my kids are the only ones getting lectured. My children are well-behaved. But they are children.
Safety first in the water is one of my belief, so I am letting them handle the safety part of it. After all, as diligent a mom as I am, I do not have enough eyes for 4 boys in the water.
I hope, really hope that today’s lecture will be enough to make my boys remember that horsing around and water is NOT a good combination.
