Mommy & Son Trip

We’re leaving on Sunday for a Mommy and son trip. I haven’t packed yet. I should, but I’m procrastinating. I’m excited. I’ll be away from Sunday to Friday night. Which means, I have to make sure no bills is due at any time because well, my husband wouldn’t know what to do.

What this trip cost so far:

409 – car rental (two days of which is spent just parked somewhere because we’re going to Santa Catalina Island and cannot bring the car. I wish I thought it over and could have saved myself 200 bucks more. But there it is)

145 – one night at Doubletree (for that wedding reception.

118 – Catalina Ferry round trip

258 – two nights in Catalina

It comes out to just under a grand. That’s not including food, and another two nights in LA.

We are going to have fun, that’s for sure.

Retail Therapy

I find myself browsing at a clothing store on Thursday morning. I went in to find myself a nice cream colored pantyhose for the dress I’m wearing at the wedding. However, I did not find the particular brand I’m looking for. I ended up checking the purses. I found a cute evening purse made by dereon. It’s perfect to carry my room keys and wallet. The best part is, I never have to put it down since I can tuck in comfortably on my arms. There will be line dancing at the wedding, so the little handle comes in handy. I can’t wait to go to this wedding.

Cool Tats

Saw this from a WhichWich worker. I asked to take a picture. I thought this was nicely done for a tattoo. It’s a work of art. I don’t think I’m brave enough to get one, but it doesn’t mean I cannot admire someone who already got it done. Oh yeah, the sandwich was delicious. I had to smuggle it like a contraband because I wanted to see Charlie St. Cloud, and I was hungry. I didn’t want to eat popcorn, I don’t like those things. I also don’t like hotdogs…so I smuggled the sandwich in. I did buy overpriced soda in the theater because I feels so guilty having to break this rule. But, I needed to eat, bad!

Carve Out a Study Time

Since I am going to take the MCAT in April, and apply for medical school in May 2011, I have to start studying and preparing now.  But take note, I have five children, and they’re all home for the summer. The youngest is only 4. I am testing out several places to study, and so far, I am only undisturbed when it’s every body’s bedtime.

The good news is, I’m slowly getting used to studying my chemistry, biology, physics, organic chemistry and the likes. I have not tried writing essay yet. I’m still feeling my way. I do need to be on full review mode by last week of August. I am also taking psychology and anatomy and physiology this semester. This just makes everything very interesting.

Atlanta has A New Family

Thanks for the post, Everett Kerlnem

When my family and I decided to move to Detroit from Nashville we were very excited and scared at the same time. We had never been to Detroit. My husband’s job was moving their location, so we were going with the job. They helped us find a really nice apartment.

Since he had to move earlier than me, staying behind meant I had to make sure all of the things remaining were packed and done. I called a few companies about setting up alarm monitoring in Michigan in our new apartment first, and found a terrific company that installed it the very next day!

I also went by the post office and filled out a change of address form. I used those little cards to notify magazines and such too. My husband had decided we would hire a moving company for the remaining things, and I was able to find one for a pretty reasonable price. They even provided me with free boxes and packed some of the larger items! I drove to Detroit in the car with our dog Fruit Loop. The scenery was terrific along the way, and Atlanta is terrific!
